The Art of Bold Innovation

Laurel Delaney, writing for OPEN Forum asks how do organisations manage risk taking for bold innovation? We may not all be looking to achieve innovation that is “bold” and some of you may be content with incremental innovation or even just a smarter way of thinking or a better way to capture ideas. However, her questions are worth considering, and the underlying points applicable to innovation in many forms. These include:

  • Inspiring people to develop new ideas
  • Creating a diverse team and foster knowledge sharing
  • Communicate the importance of taking the initiative to make things happen
  • Don’t reinforce the old ways of doing things
  • Nurture people to learn from their failures and go on to be successful
  • Inspire creative work, adhering to business goals
